The Association Nationale des Pionniers et Combattants Volontaires du Maquis du Vercors (National Association of Pioneers and Volunteer Combatants of the Vercors Maquis) presents a mobile exhibition on the history of the Maquis and the Resistance in the Vercors.
About : Vercors 1941-1944″ exhibition
As early as 1941, the Vercors region expressed its hostility to the victors and the Vichy government, and the first maquis organized themselves into operational military camps.
Hundreds of men soon flocked to the Vercors to support the resistance. German repression led to a destructive offensive in the summer of 44, with civilians and soldiers facing the onslaught of the occupying forces day after day. When the German troops withdrew, the massif was in a state of total desolation, with several hundred dead.
After the war, it was time for reconstruction and the duty of remembrance.
